Combining branding headshots and boudoir portraits

"What would it cost to do some boudoir photos at my headshot session?”

The question at the top of this page is a very commonly asked one.

It’s not always the addition of boudoir portraits that people are asking about- sometimes it’s a woman inquiring about a glamour photo shoot to celebrate her fiftieth birthday who is interested in killing two birds with one stone by also doing some family portraits.

Or it might be an entrepreneur interested in doing some business branding headshots who’s also interested in doing a few personal photos with her pet.

What I always say to people is that we have the ability to do whatever you’re dreaming of- as long as we’re able to do it at the studio in the same session as the photo shoot you’ve booked, there is no additional cost (please note: if you have a particular location within, or beyond, the Lower Mainland in mind, on-location shoots include a travel fee and are both doable and lots of fun).

But back to Jess and her photo shoot. She brought in some simply beautiful outfits to play with, all of which were very sleek and timeless. Jess’s outfits (along with her personality) inspired the aesthetic that we achieved in her photo shoot. And when I say ‘we’, I mean my talented hair and makeup artist, the beautiful Jess, and myself (the success of any photo shoot I do is based on the effort of all those involved). We decided to do a very polished, very elegant and timeless look for her personal branding headshots. She has such an incredible, bubbly personality that I made sure we incorporated some beautiful laughing portraits of her (achieved with my repertoire of jokes that are both silly and inappropriate 😂).

The results in these personal branding headshots are both classic and timeless, just like Jess:

Lastly, to finish up her photo shoot, Jess brought along a classic, simple black slip to do some boudoir-inspired portraits in. Boudoir at my studio is not really traditional ‘boudoir’ in that you won’t find g-strings or tush shots in the portraits I do (and please note, I have absolutely nothing against that style of boudoir photography, which is beautiful in it’s own right- it’s just not a style that I photograph).

When women come to me for me boudoir portraits, they’re usually look for something a little more real and raw. In whatever genre of portrait photography I’m photographing in a given day, my goal is to always capture the essence of who the person is in front of me, and boudoir photography is no different. The boudoir portrait of Jess below encapsulates everything I set out to achieve when I do a boudoir session. We can see both her natural beauty and her strength, the latter of which I think is very important to highlight when photographing women.
